Glass Ceiling

Epson Semi Matte 260, 18in X 24in

Year:

2021

The Framework Series is a three-piece collective within “A Roaring 20’s” that explores the architecture of Black excellence through labor, self-confrontation, and legacy. Together, the works form a visual blueprint of the modern Black man’s climb—one rooted in intention, resilience, and self-knowledge.

The second image, Glass Ceiling, interrogates the idea of limitation as something learned rather than inherent. Shot at Summit One Vanderbilt, the photo places the subject high above the city, surrounded by blue hues that evoke clarity, distance, and introspection. This work challenges the notion of the ceiling as a true boundary, suggesting instead that it is a construct designed to feel permanent. By standing at the summit, the image asserts that what once appeared unbreakable only exists if we accept the version of history we were given.
